2) Hit the clubs
This one's obvious. Ibiza is the land of the super-club and the superstar DJ. Every year, fun-lovers flock to the dance floors of clubbing meccas like Space, Es Paradis, Pacha and Amnesia. From R&B and Garage to Hip Hop and House, this is the dance music capital of the world. And when we say super-clubs, we really mean super; Privilege, home to famous club night Manumission, is the world's biggest nightclub, with room for 10,000 clubbers.
3) Watch the sunset
For a truly life-affirming experience, watch the sun go down (or come up) on the beach. Ibiza is famous for its sunsets, and boy do they know how to make the most of them. Head to San Antonio's Cafe del Mar or Cafe Mambo and sit on the terrace with chill out music in your ears, a cocktail in your hand and the sunset reflected in the water. It's enough to make you feel all warm inside.
4) Make a splash
In Ibiza, they know there's nothing more fun than a good soaking in the sunshine, and the island's fun-packed water parks are the place to do it. Twist and turn in the dark on the Black Hole tube slide at Aguamar waterpark, Playa d'en Bossa, or race each other down the lane slides at Agualandia in Talamanca.
5) Be a beach hopper
Don't spend every day on the same patch of sand. A big part of the Ibiza experience is discovering your very own favourite beach, so keep searching.
Ibiza's 50-plus beaches all have their own special style, whether you're looking for a quiet secluded cove or a lively party beach. Pack a picnic and head to family-friendly Talamanca and Figueretes, spend an afternoon snorkelling in pretty Portinatx and pose in your swimmies on Playa d'en Bossa.
6) Try indie rock Ibiza-style
Best-known for its dance music, Ibiza still hears it's fair share of electric guitars. The party island attracts indie fans too, most notably with Ibiza Rocks, an annual open-air music festival held in San Antonio. Since 2005, the likes of The Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks, The Fratellis and Arctic Monkeys have graced the stage. Think V Festival with guaranteed sunshine, in Ibiza.
7) Shop 'til you drop
A tan isn't all you'll bring home from Ibiza: this stylish holiday spot is perfect for picking up quirky clothes and accessories that will have everyone asking where you got them. Treat yourself to silver jewellery, butter-soft leather, designer buys and handmade clothes. There are funky markets and shops all over the island, but for the best buys head to the famous hippy markets of Es Cana and San Carlo or spend an evening exploring Ibiza Town's trendy boutiques.
8) Soak up some culture
Don't miss the cobbled charms of Ibiza Town. The walled 16th century Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its narrow streets, castle and watchtowers. Today's laidback lifestyle blends seamlessly with the town's artistic heritage and historical sights. Wander around the busy harbour, smart restaurants and craft markets, cross the drawbridge to enter the old quarter and visit the 13th century Santa Maria Cathedral.
9) Set sail
What better way to enjoy the azure-blue Mediterranean than a boat cruise?
Seeing Ibiza from the water gives you a whole new perspective on the island, whether you spend a day swimming and catching rays on a catamaran, watching the fish through a glass bottom boat or taking a trip to the quiet shores and unspoiled countryside of nearby Formentera.
10) Dine in style
Eating out in Ibiza isn't all giant pizza slices and egg and chips (although they have their place). Chic restaurants are popping up all over the place, serving everything from fresh seafood, paella and tapas to modern Mediterranean and Asian fusion. You'll find the best food on Santa Eulalia's beachfront and marina. While Ibiza Town's old quarter is the place to go for traditional, romantic eateries complemented by a grown-up bar scene.
